The Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE) Storytelling program encourages community members to empower themselves and advocate for their communities by sharing their stories of connection, support and wellness. Participants engage in workshops that help them create and share their stories in images, writing and/or video. Beginning with a framing question, facilitators support participants to share their stories as Photovoices or Digital Stories.
These stories illuminate important topics and conversations in our LGBTQIA+ community. The stories shared can be both personal and powerful. Storytellers are able to share joy, reframe trauma, and find solidarity with others in their various communities. Stories can help people recognize the spectrum of LGBTQIA+ experiences in San Mateo County and can even open the doors to additional support and connection.
Share your story of what queer identity means to you!
